Counseling is most effective when clients feel safe to share their thoughts, feelings, and experiences without fear of judgment or exposure. HIPAA and confidentiality protections ensure that your personal information and sessions remain private, which allows for trust, honesty, and healing to take place.

  • Only situations involving safety risks (like harm to self/others or abuse) are exceptions, prioritizing care while maintaining confidentiality.

Confidentiality is the foundation of a trusting and effective counseling relationship. Protecting everyone’s privacy ensures a safe, and trusting environment for your own counseling.
